FAQ
The Bori Bliss Tallow Encyclopedia
Core Philosophy: The Minimal-Ingredient Standard
We adhere to a strict Minimal-Ingredient Standard. While many "natural" brands still use 15-30 ingredients, including hidden fillers or complex herbal blends that can irritate reactive skin, Bori Bliss formulations are intentionally hyper-minimal.
We focus on regenerative, grass-fed tallow that is bio-identical to your skin’s natural biology. Our products are designed for the "ultra-sensitive" family member—safe enough for a newborn’s eczema but effective enough for an adult’s damaged skin barrier.
Why should I choose tallow over plant-based lotions or shea butter?
Conventional lotions are typically 70-80% water, which requires synthetic preservatives (like parabens or phenoxyethanol) to prevent mold. Tallow is anhydrous (water-free), meaning it is shelf-stable without harsh preservatives.
Furthermore, grass-fed tallow shares a fatty acid profile nearly identical to human skin oils (sebum), making it far more absorbable and compatible with your skin barrier than plant-based alternatives like shea butter or coconut oil, which sit on top of the skin.
What does "Regenerative Tallow" actually mean?
"Regenerative" goes beyond organic. It refers to our sourcing from farms that use grazing practices to restore soil health and sequester carbon. By using tallow, we are also practicing ethical upcycling—utilizing a nutrient-dense animal by-product that would otherwise go to waste.
Is Bori Bliss safe for eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis?
Yes. Bori Bliss is specifically formulated for the most sensitive skin in your family. Our Unscented Tallow Balm is free from essential oils and potential irritants, making it the ideal "skin reset" tool.
- For Eczema/Psoriasis: We recommend the Unscented Whipped Balm or Honey Balm for deep moisture retention.
- For Rosacea: Avoid active ingredients; stick to our Tallow Face Balm or Blue Tansy formula (known for calming redness).
Will tallow clog my pores or cause acne?
Tallow is generally non-comedogenic because its lipid profile mimics human sebum. However, for acne-prone or oily skin, texture and application matter.
- For Face: We recommend our Whipped Tallow Balm or Tallow Face Balm, which are lighter.
- For Fungal Acne: Please consult a dermatologist. In these cases, we recommend using our Tallow Soaps rather than leave-on balms.
Can I use Bori Bliss on my face, or is it just for the body?
You can absolutely use it on your face. It is excellent for "slugging" (sealing in moisture) or repairing over-exfoliated skin. If you are worried about heaviness, use the Tallow Face Balm Mini or Whipped Balm.
Routine Tip: Apply to a damp face immediately after cleansing to lock in hydration without a greasy finish.
Is tallow safe for babies and diaper rash?
Bori Bliss is a "whole-family" brand. Our unscented tallows are edible-grade and safe for soothing diaper rash, cradle cap, and dry cheeks.
Recommendation: Use the Grass Fed Tallow Honey Balm or plain Unscented Whipped Balm for babies to avoid essential oil sensitivities.
Can I use this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes. Our minimal-ingredient formulas are free from retinoids and endocrine disruptors. For pregnancy stretch marks, our rich Tallow Body balms provide intense elasticity support.
Note: To be 100% safe, stick to our Unscented line during pregnancy.
Does tallow skincare smell like beef?
No. We use a specialized rendering process that clarifies the tallow to remove impurities and odors.
- Unscented: Has a very faint, neutral, creamy scent (like plain butter).
- Scented: Our Lavender Honey, Blue Tansy, and Hibiscus Mint blends smell entirely of the high-quality botanicals and essential oils we infuse them with.
What is the difference between Whipped Balm and Face Balm?
Whipped Balm: Aerated for a fluffy, cloud-like texture. Easier to spread over large areas (body, legs, arms).
Face Balm (Solid): A denser concentrate. Best for targeted treatment on the face, lips, or dry patches (hands, elbows).
Does Bori Bliss expire? How should I store it?
Because we do not use synthetic preservatives, our products are best used within 6–12 months. Keep water out of the jar and store in a cool, dry place. If your balm melts in summer heat, simply pop it in the fridge for 20 minutes to re-solidify.
Our Story
This all started with a hobby of making Tallow for a healthier way of cooking. It quickly evolved into using the Tallow to make soaps, lip balms, lotion bars, whipped balms, body butters, face cream, bath bombs, and candles. That's when Bori Bliss was created - the name includes my love for Puerto Rico and being Boricua!
At Bori Bliss, we are committed to offering all-natural, thoughtfully crafted products that celebrate and enhance your uniqueness.
Our mission is to empower individuals to express their confidence and authenticity through our diverse and mindful range of offerings.
